Ion Plating durability
I am considering getting a Seiko watch that is black ion plated. The watch costs £140. I'm also considering a Timex Expedition at £125, also black ion plated. I know nothing about watches but I'm told that this plating wears off very quickly. Is this true? Does price come into it? How long ,if worn most days, would it take for the watch to look shabby? Also, is there something you can coat the watch with to prevent it coming off? Or can you get them re-coated at all? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
