Does anyone have any experience with these movements? I have read they are owned by Citizen. Is there any real difference between the 8205 and the 9015?

Miyota is Citizens movement manufacture division like Eta is for swatch.
The 8205 is a 21,600 BHP handwinding non hacking movement, the 9015 is a 28,800 BHP handwinding and hacking movement.
the 9015 is much newer and more expencive set to battle the 2824 from ETA and the 6R15 from seiko, while the 8100 and 8200 series from citizen are cheap workhorse movements (you can get the basic ones from like 30 bucks) for economic watches.
The curious thing is that the 8100 and 8200 series movements are a dime a dozen and you can find then in loads of watches from 100bucks to 500-600 bucks, while the 9015 has only been seen in a couple of watches and not much has been said about it.
Considering that the market segment is getting interesting now with ETA lowering its supply quotas, Selitta and soprod filling in on the swiss side of things, Seiko making the 6R15 and 4R3X series more avaiable to 3rd party manufacturers and seagull showing some decent entery level calibres im wondering why citizen isnt pushing the 9015 so much.
Thats an awesome explanation, thank you very much. I had noticed these movement being used in some watches I was looking to buy(mainly some deep blue divers).
The 9015 is Lüm-Tec's new workhorse. But apparently the demand is so high that they're hard to get, too.
