I'm actually not that much of a mod fan, but this looks really, really good. Nice job!

That's a really well put together mod. I think it looks awesome.

But I just can't bring myself to mod or upgrade my skx007. I think the stock crappiness is endearing.

I hear you. Here's a side by side stock vs Project SKX777.

Well that does it for me, I have stayed away from the Seiko side of this hobby for 10 years but this build showing all the fun Mods possible & knowing the cost to awesome ratio, I can't resist anymore. I'm in. Thanks for sharing, looks amazing. See you on the darkside!!!

Nice idea putting the turtle dial (nicer dial) in an SKX case (better case). Agree with the turtle's cushion case looking odd vs the SKX's more svelte curves.

I thought the sub bezel on the SKX would just be sacrilege, but seeing this is making it grow on me. I like how it gives the case some depth instead of looking so flat.

The Merc, however, doesn't work on the Sub and works even less here, lol. I'd take a sword, commando or dagger from Dagaz any day over the Merc.

What I'd really like to see, is a mod like this with a brushed or polished silver chapter ring, no deliniators. The OEM chapter ring is so busy expecially with all of the markings already on the bezel, and the blank silver ring would help give it a more sub-like vibe.

Are the dials on the skx and the srp777 interchangeable ? any modifications needed?

I love the look of the SKX007 and will never be without one. I love the new SRP777, but the case shape is a 8/10 for me, and I wanted a new, fresh look to the SKX. Seeing some of the new parts available, and some excellent mods, I came up with my new concept.

    • Stock SKX007K
    • DLW double dome sapphire crystal
    • DLW black Mercedes hands
    • DLW Submariner ceramic bezel insert
    • Yobokies new Submariner bezel

I am debating on using the stock second hand....but I'm still unsure of that. Maybe I will tip the end of it orange or white to add some dimension to it. The white end of the stock second hand is what makes me think of doing that. Also, I love the subtle color on the SKX dial, but this will have some serious depth with the SRP777 dial. So I can forego that. Plus this gives me a stock SKX dial to modify and remove the day portion of the opening and see if I can achieve the 'date only' window I posted previously. Can't hurt to have one to prototype that with.

Sending it off next week. Can't wait for the finished product. Stay tuned!
