    SBCM023 Sapphire Crystal?

    Hello,

Does anyone know if one of the replacement sapphire crystals commonly available for other Seiko divers will fit the SBCM023? Or does someone know where I can find a sapphire crystal that will fit?

    Thanks

Otto frei has flat 2mm thick sapphires now in most sizes that should do the trick as long as your crystal is not 3mm thick

You will still need to know the diameter of it!
If you plan to actually dive with it you should also get a crystal gasket through the dealer who sold the watch to you.

Problem is... I don't know the diameter of it, because I will buy it only if I can also buy a sapphire crystal for it.

Anyone know the diameter of a SBCM023 crystal?

If you know the case number (not the model number) you can look it up at julesborel

Any SBCM023 owner out there that can give me the case number of the watch?

    Would appreciate it.

I'm bored waiting for beam, so I did some googling.

    According to this post:

My life with a Seiko SBCM023

    the SBCM023 has case number 8F35-00A0. It takes a 29mm crystal 290P23HN03.

Doesn't look like any of the common diver aftermarket sapphires will fit, although you should ask Harold and Noah to make sure.

However, I *think* that 29mm is a standard size Rolex crystal, so there should be a multitude of aftermarket crystals that will fit. If not you can always buy a generic one from ofrei or jules borel.

Thanks a lot for your help.

And you seem to be right.

Checking ebay, 29mm was used on a Tudor Prince Oyster / Oysterdate. Diameter is 29.00mm X 28.10mm. Rolex/Tudor number is 74033. Cost is about 25 dollars. Available through ebay, though I found a page where they sell it without the date magnifier http://www.ewatchparts.com/index.php...oducts_id=2376

    Ras44,
Did you end up getting one of these? If so, how did it work out? I am considering the same upgrade and I'd love to hear of your experiences at attempting this.

No, I am selling my Blue Angels LE in order to fund my next watch purchase. Might end up with a U600 or U680 watch with a smaller diameter than the Blue Angels LE.

However, I must tell you, Seiya has available the SBQL007, which though not a diver, it does have an 8F HEQ movement, day/date and sapphire crystal for around $300.
