They are the same color (or at least, very close to the same) but they appear to be different colors because they have slightly different textures, and they face the camera at different angles. The face is definitely silver, although in certain light, it could pass for white. It has a (very) slight radial brush effect - so slight that you really only notice it in very bright light or under a loupe. The chapter ring has a soft of sandblasted finish to it. The next time I have my light tent set up I'll get some better pictures that show the texture better.

PS: There are a few more pix at this link.

Glad to help! Which two did you get? I have eyes on one of the snzh5* "fifty fathoms" models.

Here are the two that I got yesterday. They're Gaining +12-14sec/day after 24 hours. I expect them to settle in under +10 sec in a few days. They's just excited, is all.
I just spent 2 hours trying a dozen different straps on 'em. Will go with these for a while. I never thought I'd ever get a chance to wear the blue croc, but here it is!

The blue on croc is one of the more unique combinations I've seen lately, and I mean that as a compliment. It's sure to attract some attention. The black looks very classy on that strap.
I'd love to hear some more feedback after you've had them for a while. This is one of those "off the beaten path" Seikos I've often looked at in passing.
Thanks p_shooter! Yeah, the colors on these are subtle. That's why it took me so long to match the right strap.
I was/am blown away by how the blue is actually lumed!
And as for the black, the dial is not actually black! It's an incredibly subtle shade of flat dark dark gray on the warm side. So a jet black strap can really show that up by way of contrast.
All in all, I am really impressed with this whole SNZJ5X.. and 6X.. series. One of the best Seiko designs using auto to come along in a long while. I just might get a few more: the white, the stealth, the yellow...

I've been looking at these a while also. Could someone explain the dental floss mod for the timer stem? I understand the purpose, but wondered in more detail how some of you actually tied a loop of floss around the stem and secured it. Thanks
Nuthin to it: just wrap the floss around the stem 3-5 times - depending on how tight you want the crown to be. Then either snip the floss off with an Exacto,... or...
What I did was - I used a mini torch (a high-pressure lighter will do as well) to "cut" the ends off. It takes less than half a second of heat. No need to tie the ends.
Oh, and I used 'waxed' floss - it's a bit stickier so it tends to stay in place better. But even the regular floss will stay - if you're not moving the crown all that much.
