Seiko 6S37 or Omega 3313 Based Chrono

I am looking for a nice mechanical chrono and have narrowed down my choice to either the Seiko Flightmaster or Omega Planet Ocean Chrono.

Flightmaster would probably be a little more exclusive, made of titanium and has a proven 6S37 movement which I have not heard of any complains on the web so far. I do read about some 3313 problems back in the early days which I will be surprise if Omega still have not got those teething issues resolved by now.

On the other hand, the Omega PO is COSC certified, WR to 600m, has the Co-axial escapement (longer maintainence interval) and probably the 3313 movement is a little more refine than the 6S37.

I seriously do not mind either watch, but I guess I will pull the trigger on the watch with a better, more accurate and reliable movement. Given the choice, which of the above 2 movement will you choose and why?

What is your opinion and and your personal experience of these 2 watches?

I am sure your feedback will help me in my selection ....

Both are great watches. In terms of accuracy and reliability, I would say they are not too far apart from each other. This may sound bias, I owned a Speedmaster Triple Date and I found it very well built. Looking at the watch you owned I would suggest u to get a PO to have an around collection.

It would be a "no brainer" for me to buy the PO.
    I've owned a Speedmaster for 39 years, it's been
It's been serviced 4 times in that period, and still
runs flawlessly. And not to beat a "dead horse" but
it's an Omega. I know that the bracelet is going to
be better for one, and the fit and finish will be flawless.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a Seiko fan, and at the regular price point they are Great watches, but when I see comparisons of the high end watches like the MM when
compared to an Omega it just doesn't make the grade. The movements are Great, but some of the details in
the higher end watches, just don't seem to be there yet.
There will be those that say I'm nuts here, but you just have to step away from this forum at times and do some searching for watch reviews.
I'm not trying to slam Seiko, or burst anybody's bubble, or start an argument or a flame war, it's just my opinion from what I've read.

And what are your reasons for choosing the PO Chrono over the Flightmaster?

Re: Seiko 6S37 or Omega 3313 Based Chrono

Thanks for the link Sonny. I have read this review before and depending on how you view it, I would said the "negative" comments by Randall on the 6S37 are more on the finishing of the movement.

However, I have come across the following article which the watch maker had made some comments on the 3313 movement which probably you may have already read before .....

    http://watchmakingblog.com/2008/09/1...good-old-days/

I have also found a not so positive feedback on the PO chrono from WUS itself ...

Dead planet ocean after 4 weeks

After reading the above thread along with many others, I am not too sure now if Omega had really resolved the 3313 problems. No doubt about it, the 3313 is a sophisticated and wonderful movement, in fact I prefer this over the 6S37, if only it can be a little more stable ....

    Thanks for all your feedback.

I have the Flight Master. It's a very well made Watch. If I had any complaint to make about it, it would be I wish it had been made of stainless steel and not titanium.

Hmmm ... Why do you prefer stainless steel over titanium?

Due to the weight or is it because the titanium is a scratch magnet?

As usual, thanks for your feedback ....
