SNX111 strapped on leather with Seiko Deployant

    Hi guys,

I dont usually post much on the forums, though i am a regular lurker/stalker in a few of the sub-forums here. I wanted to take a minute and share with you all my latest acquisition...

Got a Seiko SNX111 from the bay earlier this year; looked to pick up an affordable auto that could serve a an office/dress watch... of course the folded links bracelet that came with had to go...

After having this watch strapped to cheaper quality store bought bands, I ordered a couple of black watchbands (20mm; long) from another ebay seller (thanks to some help from another fantastic forum member); a Speidel Royal English (which looks a lot like the Hirsch Ascot and is the one illustrated in the below pics) and a Hirsh Java lizard...

A great improvement IMHO on the previous options i had used... however, something was still lacking to complete the look... Another ebay order later and finally, i think all the pieces have come together... Here is what the mailman delivered to the office yesterday...

This is the package that was delivered... all the way from the UK... all in all 10 days from ordered to received.

Inside the bubble wrap enveloppe is a smaller plastic bag... with a new deployant inside?!

Out come the patient and my trusty scalpel for a quick bit of surgery

Here is what she looks like now

The deployant is of the single fold type, with push button release

Here is the view from the outside when closed, note the nicely signed Seiko clasp

Here is the view from inside the band... this is the clasp portion that rests against the wrist

Here's a shot of the closed clasp on the wrist

And now for a few gratuitous shots...

First, here's SNX111 hanging out with it's big brother, SKX007

and to finish things off, a couple of wrist shots...

Hope you all enjoyed this post at least a little bit in spite of the smudge marks and fingerprints i omitted to wipe down... and please be indulgent as both my camera and photo taking skills are less than stellar.

    Cheers!

Actually, these are excellent pictures - they show the watch in real life - thanks for posting.

Personally, I like watches that look like King Seikos. Until I saw this post, I'd managed to overlook the SNX111, because all the pictures I'd seen showed it on the terrible bracelet. (Funilly enough, I'd seen pictures of the black faced variant, SNX115 on leather, and it had caught my eye, although I couldn't get past the white date wheel on the black face.)

    Looks nice. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe I should end my search for a something special black dialed dress watch that doesn't meet any of my criteria for selection and just get myself a nice Seiko 5 with a few straps to put on.

White dials are my favorite, however. I think they look great with brown/tan straps.

Thanks Shambles... you really hit the nail on the head there... I'm also a big fan of vintage Seiko's (KingSeiko, Sportsmatic, BellMatic, Sealion, etc) as well as the Spirit line, as they have a clean, understated and classy look... however I opted for something that was both new and inexpensive in the end.

The big issue I had in choosing my 5 was also seeing beyond the cheap folded oyster bracelet. Credit goes to another forumer over at SCWF that had real life pics of similar SNXS73/SNXS77 on leather straps for pushing me over the edge...

    Thanks nhoJ,

For me, choosing a 5 was an easy way to get a quality affordable "dress style" watch, with enough $$$ left over to buy a few straps to change up the look to fit my mood. FYI, the dial on this piece is actually a silver sunburst color (hard to tell on my pics) as opposed to white... Also thinking of a white dial as my next purchase (havent found the right 5 yet... maybe an Orient multi-eyes?), and will definitely have a brown strap option as well

What criteria are you looking to fulfill exactly?

I have same watch SNX111 and have it on a Hirsch Liberty (brown) and started wearing it as a beater. However it looks so good and is appropriate for all meetings and clients I have not switched back to my expensive watches in a couple years. Thanks for posting.

Re: SNX111 strapped on leather with Seiko Deployant

Hello- I love your choice of straps guys! After mulling it over for many months, I finally bought an SNX 111, and I'm trying to find the right strap. Since the lugs measure at 19mm, I'm wondering how fitting a 20mm strap worked for you BruceYi? Finding the right 19mm is proving a challenge.

    Thanks!
