    Thoughts on the Seiko SUN019?

Looks like a nice watch - clear dial, larger size, bracelet look decent, supposedly very good accuracy. What say the owners of this timepiece? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on one. I've never owned a kinetic watch.

    Thanks.

I havent seen it in person but just sold my PADI Turtle to buy it. The Sumo has got me hooked on larger watches and it seems the SUN019 is about as large and bold as a Seiko diver gets. Never heard anything but great things about it other than the size and have seen several posts on WUS, Amazon and other blogs that its one of the nicest watches the owner has seen.

My wrist is 8"+ , I tried to give some perspective relative to the MM300 and the Darth.

I just acquired mine from a member here on the forum and I think it is a solid, well made representation of the Seiko dive watch.

The lume is very bright, long lasting and easily lasts through a 10 hour night.
The three above that I've shown are, in fact, my brightest, longest lasting dive watches, talking Lume of course. So much so that I purposely avoid 'charging' any of them before bead.

As far as the Kinetic aspect goes, it's just as accurate as a Quartz and, all three of these are keeping Atomic time over the past one week.

When the watch arrived in the post it was indicating low charge. Two days on the wrist, I'm very active, and it was up to 6 months reserve.
This particular examples seconds hand is hitting every mark dead center, something I wish the Darth Tuna would do.

I'd say Seiko hit the mark with this one.
I feel it's a major bargain for all it offers.

Have two near sisters, SUN023 and 043. They are both accurate and handy grab and go quartz divers.

Very huge wrist presence. Gorgeous viewed up close, but pretty subjective when viewed from a distance (its an acquired taste for that part).
But if you like accurate, well made big watches that work well and don't cost too much, its pretty hard to beat.

Loved my SUN019 - sold it to fund a tuna. Wears best on rubber IMO. Now that I've had both - I feel the kinetic is right up there with the 300m tuna in many aspects and flat out better in others (sapphire, lume, GMT, longer battery life, price). Sounds like I miss the kinetic a little.

    8 inch wrist btw.

Go for it. The only reason I got the 021 instead of the 019 was that the 019 was sold out everywhere at the time and I was to impatient to wait. Kinetics do require a little more love and care than autos when they form part of a collection as the battery is best kept in a good state of charge but really its not much more than being aware that you've got a Kinetic now which needs to be worn fairly frequently. Go on - they're a GREAT watch.

Almost bought one on sale (336€), I found it beautiful (and large). But 3 watches are enough for me.

I sold my PADI version only because at 16mm thick, it was too much for me. Otherwise, it's an outstanding watch for the money. I still think about buying it again for casual wear.
