PADI is not associated with quality in dive training and standards, often called "put another dollar in" and so to me it ruins a watch to be marked by that brand. Add to that, they put red on dive watches for the looks, completely ignoring the fact that red turns to black on a dive deeper than 30ft, it's like they're trying to prove themselves ignorant.
PADI does not put red on Seiko dive watches. PADI licenses the use of its name to the watchmaker (in this case, Seiko) which made a design decision to use blue and red because those are PADI's colors.
I DO wish there were a blue sun019, without PADI text, because the blue looks great on a lot of these models - but these red hands have got to go, it just screams "poser"
as some others have said, a blue version of the 171 would be cool but not necessarily another PADI.
really not sure what to make of the SKX anymore. they're gone, they're not. they're gone, they're back as a weird blue limited edition. I want to say i doubt they'd make a PADI, but who knows after that blue LE. part of me thinks they are clearing out old cases but i think people are still finding regular 007's and 009's online too.
I like the version with the black text on a white background on the date window.
