Ballistic Nylon/Kevlar/Nomex Strap Discussion Poll and Design Thread

    Ladies and Gentlemen:

I am currently helping Mitch and Ocean 7 with some new nylon straps that I am designing and will be made here in the US.

This is a non-standard poll, but more of a discussion of what you would really like to see on a strap.

So far, this is what I am working on, and working with. The strap is going to be Ballistic Nylon/Kevlar/Nomex, that will exceed mil specs, also the combination will be easy to clean, and mildew resistant, and much stronger than most straps.

The Ocean 7 Logo will be embroidered on it, also they will be heat sealed and stitched.

Now that all this has been said….

What would the group as a whole like to see on a strap if one could be specially made to order?

I would like to see one in a two tone of materials if that makes sense.

Personalized with the type of watch may be cool also.

My only experience with these materials is with the strap that I purchased from Strap Culture. I really like the look, texture, and overall feel of this strap. Anything that is better than this one and I'll definitely purchase some.

When you say "special order" I'm assuming you mean that it is special ordered for OCEAN7 and not the individual buyer?

The Strap Material Combination is really a good one. I am trying to incorporate the best into it.

Such as do you want rings (like a Nato), or do you want this to look like the typical 1980's and 1990's US Army Strap...IE no rings, tang buckle and wide square holder that you can fold the excess strap into.

Multiple colors might be difficult as there will already be the LOGO, I am sure that an array of color might be available, but each added variation really adds to the cost.

This is a brainstorming of what people would truly like to make a better strap, and then incorporate it into the O7 Line up, but still make it affordable.

Yes, this is only for Ocean 7, as it would have to be a bulk order and two economically feasible for everyone.

I have been talking to the representative, and trying to make this a strap that everyone can enjoy.

Personally, I think it would look good with the O-7 Tang Buckle that Mitch has already designed.

    I would vote for

    - 2 or 4 rings like a Maratac Zulu. The brushed metal looks good with a brushed metal case like my LM-6
    - Stripe(s) with contrasting colors
    - Black and coast guard orange base color

The 2 ring Zulu is a great model, thicker and more durable than the conventional Nato, I am not a fan of 4 rings I know some like them.
The low lite PVD hardware option is also quite nice.
I do not like the Velcro variants
The logo can be incorporated simlar to rhino or calico jack variants

Re: Ballistic Nylon/Kevlar/Nomex Strap Discussion Poll

I would like to see a nylon strap that is slightly thinner than a Zulu so that I can use the 2.5mm spring bars with my LM-6GMT. (Nato straps do not come in 24mm)

I have managed to get my LM-6 on a Zulu using the 2.5mm spring bars but it is not by simply threading the watch on the strap!

    Strap Features:

    - A nice heavy weight Zulu type strap with smooth heat sealed edges and holes. Heavy weight material will give the strap a quality feel.
    - Rounded contoured end to help feed it through the rings.
    - 2 ring, heavy gauge, brushed stainless steel hardware.
    - Solid color or optional orange "skunk" stipe.
    - "Ocean7" embroidered name is good, but would like it subtle, I would NOT prefer this strap to look like it is sponsored by NASCAR.

    Just my 02¢.
