    Re: Design concept?

I'm getting more excited about this, too. I don't want a 24 hour scale on the dial either. The reflector with orange numbers will work much better. I don't think we have to worry about making the 24 hour markings visible underwater, but they should be large enough for a 50 year old guy to read without extreme magnification! I think a long GMT hand like the G-1 will work well here, especially if it reaches all the way to the reflector.

The plan is to make the case 44mm diameter not including the crown, and around 13mm thick. The case will also be designed so that we can fit the 2824 at a later date. The case has to be machined for one movement or the other, but the same mold can be used.

    Re: Design concept?

It's a classic design as utilised by CWC and others, it will sell well IMO. For once I am nor sure about 44mm diameter 24mm lug width.

I would go for 42mm diameter (ex crown) and 22mm lug width which makes it bigger than the Heuer/CWC. Might sound strange coming from a large watch fan, however this design could also appeal to people in the military and military style enthusiasts. I just think that 44mm would push it out of this market.

A fixed bar option would be good, although I appreciate this might be a pain for the manufacturer to produce both. Would it work with screwed bars?

    Re: Design concept?

John, 42mm is not out of the question and may be a good option. We don't have to commit until the project is approved and plans are drawn. Does the extra 2mm make that much of a difference to potential customers?

Lug spacing will stay at 24mm, and we will probably use spring bars with drilled-through lugs. We are sourcing thick, very strong spring bars, and I think that's a better way to go.

I agree that this is a classic design.

My humongous wrists prefer the extra 2mm, but I'll admit I may be in the minority with that one.

    Hi Mitch,

I really like the design concept. I vote for a 43mm or 44mm case w/24mm lugs. I have always been fond of that case design and would love to see a larger interpretation of it.

I hope that a bracelet will be designed for it from the beginning and I wish there was a chance it would be made in titanium. I am guessing it would be more expensive to make though and may have less mainstream appeal. I would love to see it with an anodized dial like the LM-3. Maybe with it in black, orange or silver.

Hi Cannon, titanium would be nice, but that would bring the price well over $1K. The additional cost to make this case in titanium is probably around $400, but that's an educated guess at this point.

I would like to use the inner sandblasted, outer brushed bezel concept, but I think it's more important to make the bezel thinner so the dial can be made as large as possible.

The watch will come with the same band as the LM-3, with custom endpieces made for the watch. That's definite.

Man, I'm getting all warm and fuzzy inside. I know this is way premature, but any guesstimate on delivery time? Ironically, I hope it's not TOO soon, as I need to create some space between this one and the LM-3.

    Re: Design concept?

We have 100 2893-2s allocated for September that were originally intended for the G-1. If we do this instead, there won't be any more G-1s this year unless we find more movements.

It takes around four months at this point to get from design to full production, so we can play with the design for another two months before making the decision to go ahead. I think once we see the drawings the decision will be obvious, one way or the other.

    I like it!

has a decision been made re:the bexel.

i'm not a big fan of the g-1 bezel. too commonplace, imo. woul prefer something more unique looking.

I have asked for drawings based on these ideas. This is just a concept. It may ultimately turn into a real watch, or it may end up on the scrap heap like the square case concept.
