Rolling eyes First Oris ever...Help me please

Will be buying my first Oris ever this or next week. And it will either be the Prodiver Chronograph, or the Carlos Coste Cenote series...Been watching several photos, tried them both on at the local AD, watched Warren and Smithys reviews (friendsoforis.com) and still can't put my mind together...Any advice here would of been greatly appreciated. Some pros and cons..

Personally I'd go the Pro diver chrono. But that's just me. Make very sure that after weighing up the technical speeds and feeds that you choose the one that you "like" the best. I had a diver delivered yesterday. The date diver in black. Magnificent! It doesn't go to 1000 meters...only 300m. But then again I don't spend that much time down at 1000 meters. I also get the see through case back which to my tiny mind is better than watching TV!

Oris is the best value in watches on the planet I think. You'll love whichever you get.

There is pretty big size difference between the two, Prodiver is 51mm and Carlos Coste is 46mm which is pretty substantial.
I never handled Carlos Coste but personally owned Prodiver and enjoyed it quite a bit so I am little biases towards Prodiver.

I have no advice that I can give you, but just wanted to add that I was at an Oris AD last week and all of these watches look great and I was totally impressed. You probably cannot go that wrong no matter which you choose. Great brand. Good luck.

I like the Prodiver chrono better but Carlos Coste is more practical.

The ORIS diver case tense to wear smaller, the 44mm TT1 "felt" like a 42ish. It's kinda thick tho'(for the good and bad)

Best thing to do is to try them all out.

Maybe a few years ago if you'd added "Swiss". Maybe.
Now? I don't think they're better than fairly priced, verging on a bit expensive.
Now the best Swiss v.f.m. might just be Certina.

Not really. They're both too big.

As mentioned in other recent Oris threads, Oris divers wear smaller than their indicated size - about 3-4 mm smaller. This is due to the fact that the divers case flare downwards and the measurement given is the case diameter at the bottom. Hence, a 46mm is actually a 42mm, while a 51mm is more accurately a 47mm. That's the reason why they wear smaller - because they actually are.

Perhaps. I've never tried one on. I am skeptical that a watch that physically measures 51mm or 46mm can look like a reasonable size on the wrist. After all, a small looking elephant is still an elephant.

Anyhoo, I'll take my negative vibes elsewhere. Enjoy the thread!
