Android "V" Skeleton Automatic Tungsten Watch #AD402ARS

I got this watch in from Marc at Island Watch on Monday morning and was not planning to make a big deal about it but after two days of wearing it I cannot help myself. The stats for the watch are:

I have to say after two days of wearing it, it has neither gained or lost a second. It is still 27.5 seconds ahead of the atomic clock in Fort Collins (as the movement is non-hacking). The Miyota 82S0 (which appears to have made its debut in 2008) is keeping awesome time and there is no indication that it will stutter.

Being a big fan of divers watches its really nice to have a watch with a bezel that is not cluttered with numbers and that should not scratch under normal circumstances. The combination of tungsten and sapphire makes for a watch that should keep its new appearance for years. I removed the stock brown leather band and put on a black Dunthorp tire tread pattern silicon band for the ultimate in comfort.

The push/pull crown is acceptable although I would have loved it if was screw down. 100 meter is all the water resistance I need since it will not be used for diving.

Of course there is always the final test that makes or breaks a new watch for me and that's the lume test. I am pleased to say this watch passed with flying colors! It's not quite the beast that my relumed Bernhardt Sea Shark (thanks Lum Tec) is but it can really hold its own. It can easily be seen from about 10 at night to 6:30 the next morning and no squinting is required. The only downside is that there are no lumed indexes on the dial so you have to make sure to hold your wrist in the proper position to get the correct time.

I like the fact that I can wear this watch to the office and when I am off work I know that it is up to the task of handling anything I can get into.

I have pretty much had good luck with Android time pieces although some of them have had questionable crowns. This one is a real winner and looks much pricier than the $157.50 ($175 less the 10% discount Marc has running... buy now!). Shop NBC also has this model for $175.00 and a clearance on the same case with Swiss guts.

For some reason folks around here aren't too interested in Tungsten, but I sure appreciate the scratch resistance. (I don't have a tungsten watch yet but am always looking).

I have a real nice Citizen "panda" (daytona style chrono, white dial with dark subdials). One day I wore it to the pool with the kids, and it handled the water fine; but by the end of the swim session it collected a nasty scuff on a tile.

Tungsten would have just bounced off a hit like that
