    Sottomarina Italia Subacqueo SM5011-2 review

So, I'm poking around on Amazon and somehow ended up purchasing this watch. This watch is a simple quartz 3 hand model with a date magnifier.

Here's the link to the website: Sottomarino Watches

The watch we have here obviously attempts to copy the Rolex Submariner look with it's mercedes hands and distinctive dial.

The basics of this watch are as follows:
    -42mm case
    -Sapphire Crystal with date magnifier
-316L Stainless Steel case and bracelet
    -20mm lugs
    -No solid endlinks
    -Screwdown crown at 3 o'clock

The movement: All the caseback says is it's a Japanese Quartz movement which literally means it could be sourced from any of the big Japanese watch movement manufacturers.

The band: It attempts to emulate the Rolex brush and polished combination which does look good although the bracelet is very flimsy. It would look good on a Nato strap if one desires. The links are simple push pins and you have 3 micro-adjustments to get a good fit.

The Dial: The dial actually looks really good with a really deep black satin like finish. They didn't go overboard with the silk screening and I think it actually does look very minimalistic. All it says is "Suttomarino Italia" below the 12 mark and "Water Resistant 330ft/100m" above the 6 mark.

The Date Window: It's unusual to have black background with white text. I also know why, it's really really hard to read the date. It almost seems like the Date Cyclops makes the date even harder to read.

The lume pretty much sucks.. End of that discussion.

So, for 135 US Dollars, I say "Eh.. It's alright". If I were you though, get a 80 dollar Invicta and it's a much better timepiece build wise minus the sapphire.

Looks good on the wrist. I bought a Lucciola Tritium from their website. It showed up with a warped bezel, and their customer service is dreadful. I think you are correct in saying the Invicta is the superior timepiece, but we all make impulse purchases, and it does look good on your wrist.
