    A Difficult Travelling Companion

Now that I've resolved myself to using fountain pens again as a regular writing instrument, I've run into a bit of a problem. What's the best way to carry them?

Although many of my pens are fairly robust, they're not exactly like a disposable ball point pen and I feel they're a little more awkward to carry around. Shoving them in a pocket seems like a recipe for disaster, and I rarely wear shirts with pockets, so their clips don't necessarily help me out. This past weekend I had to work a three day trade show and was really upset for a while because I thought that I'd lost my early '50s Parker, which I had thrown in my jacket pocket because there was no where else to put it. Luckily I found the pen (it had fallen out of the pocket and was on the seat of my car).

So what's the solution? A special belt holster seems a little nerdy, but I can't think of any other way to safely travel with a fountain pen on a regular basis. Suggestions appreciated.

    Google "fountain pen leather cases".

I have one for my Waterman and they also age nicely and look good on any desk.

    Good luck!
