    Re: Noob Questions

I don't think there is any real correct answer here. But here is what I have found through my own purchases. Steel nibs with medium or broad nibs work best on most types of papers. The tines have to be even and the point of contact smooth. I have three that will write on most anything well, except for waxed/waxy paper. Two steel nib'ers that I have and do well are Bexley and Visconti.

I imagine gold nibs do well also, but if you don't need/desire one, why spend the money? Still, I would not give up my Parker vacuumatic or Sheaffer snorkel, but with gold nibs.

    Good luck!

    Re: Noob Questions

Fountain pens will write on any paper so long as...

    - It's smooth.
    - It's not super-duper absorbent.
    - It's not got a waxy/shiny finish.
    - It's not super-duper thin.
    - It's not really thick.

So most standard paper will be fine.
