Question about twist mechanism on ballpoint pens.

I have a Waterman Expert ballpoint that is about four months old which I keep on my desk at home for writing mainly short notes, groceries, reminders etc.. It's a heavy pen which is why I don't carry it around like I originally intended to when I bought it.

Anyway, ever since I got this pen I noticed there was a bit of play or looseness in the twist mechanism from when it is closed to when I can feel resistance before it starts to twist open and vice versa. Recently I have noticed that the looseness has increased a bit, to the point where I am writing and I can feel it when i write with the pen which is quite annoying. I can also feel it when i pick up the pen. I've tried unscrewing the pen and putting it back together which sometimes helps but after a few days of using, it becomes noticeably looser again.

I don't have a lot of experience with pens so i don't know if this is normal for the brand or for this type of pen although i doubt it since it is quite noticeable and annoying. Any input or info on this would be appreciated.

    Hi,
I also have a twist mechanism Waterman, mine is 17years old (was a present in 1994), there is no play in my mechanism and feels as tight as the day I got it. It looks like yours has not been machined properly and either the case or the plastic insert is not aligned, resulting in too much play. I would be looking to take it back to your place of purchase for an exchange.

( I appreciate what you are saying about the weight of the pen, but that is why I like it so much.)
