T-d off that I lost a pen, first time actually losing something

Was feeling horrible this weekend with some kind of cold and went out to eat with my wife, daughter, and MIL who was up for a visit.....

My new and newly found favorite pen, the Fisher Space Pen AG7 which was a christmas gift from my wife (she got an amazing deal on it from Amazon at only $10 with some coupon), happened to get left behind post signing the check...

Called the place today but they were like sorry, no pen here....

Damn, so the bad is that it isn't a bank breaker like one of my Pelikans, but still stinks and now I have to find a replacement....

Anyone else lose a pen they like and how did you cope?

If I really liked it, I bought another. I've carried the same embassy pen for more than a year and a half tho. So haven't had that dilemma in a while.

Can't say that I have done that. Then again, it is most likely because I carry fountain pens. Most places I will eat at provide me with their pen which a) is better on their poor paper and b) keeps my pen in my pocket.

Sorry for your loss. At least with an AG7, you know the new owner will use it. Had it been one of my FPs, they probably would have dumped it.

    Take care,
    Dan

Heh yeah one of those things, my fountains stay home most of the time and like you said don't do well on reciepts, I liked using/carrying the AG7 so much that it just came like second nature, really regret taking it out when I felt sick, not so much about the money as it isn't that bad, but the fact my wife gave it to me and I was happy to get it as it was just what I wanted.

    Live and learn I guess.

I recently lost my custom made white gold wedding band in the surf while on vacation. It was irreplaceable and cost 100 times more than a Fisher pen. So in comparison I wouldn't think twice about losing a $30 pen; I'd just replace it and I certainly wouldn't feel that there was something that needed to be coped with.

Ouch, that sucks Uwe, I have heard of people losing very expensive items, a couple of watches lost at the beach and what not, that really stinks especially since yours was custom, sorry for your loss.

2 things... when in the ocean I always wear a watch with a NATO strap. Second thing, if it were a fountain pen you would have been more likely to have recovered it IMO. Most people seem to be afraid of them and are then less likely to keep for themselves. Just my experience of course though.

I don't lose things very often, but when I do it really bugs me. I lost a hi quality serialized pocketknife two years ago, .... somewhere in this house so it will probably show up some time in the future when "the spirit moves it."

Whenever we lose something I am almost driven to replace it. My wife lost a Hopi Indian Sterling Silver Bracelet last year and we are doing our best to find a replacement, but it is not looking good for her to find an identical one.

Yep. Was at a Starbucks in Tokyo, Japan and I put down my Christmas gift, a Montblanc Sir George Solti ball-pen. Went to the counter, not 3 meters away and when I came back, there was my notebook, Mac Book Pro, iPhone but NO PEN. Someone nicked it. Was plenty pissed! Went to the stationary store and bought a $110.00 Sailor ball point pen to replace it. I know that the MB was over 5x the price but the Sailor os a helluva pen!!!

Japanese don't usually steal things (save bikes and umbrellas) so I was a bit shocked to be honest.
