Oooh, that's quite an idea. Is there enough leather on a baseball to make a strap? I'd like to see it.

Haha, now this thread has the idea of a baseball strap in my head. I am not sure it has ever been done before. A REAL baseball is about 15-25 bucks, and I think once it is taken apart the two "halves" it might be enough. It would be really cool to cut it so you have the stitching going down the sides.
Not as clumsy or as random as a cell phone. An elegant timepiece for a more civilized time.
Johnny T makes a ton of Baseball glove straps too: Jstraps Custom watch straps - Johnny Torrez - Johnny straps
Thies Wunder at maddog straps makes some very nice straps from baseball gloves and from real baseballs. I sent him a box full of leather baseballs last year - new and used - and he made some real gems. He also does ammo straps, as well as football and basketball straps. I have one of his baseball glove straps for my Panerai 111 and another one he did from real croc skin.

A big +++1 for Johnny Torrez. Nice fellow to deal with. He recently made a strap from a Willie Mays model MacGregor glove that I've had since childhood. You can find inexpensive player-signature gloves on eBay, and Johnny will gladly do the work. Check out his website.
Cheers, John
OT: for some nicely made leather basebals, have a look:
