Re: Cheapest place for NATO straps

I bought a cheap 'Bond' NATO strap. I've had a real problem with the buckle twisting and popping out the other side, causing the strap to loosen suddenly (see picture).

I love the look and feel of the strap, but hate the buckle. Can anyone recommend a similar strap that won't have this problem? Doesn't have to be the same color, and it's an 18mm strap.

Tell us where you bought your strap so the rest of the forum knows not to buy there!
If you want quality, buy a Maratac nato. If you want a slightly cheaper alternative, since shipping costs can push that price to $25, pop into a J.Crew and check out this band at $15.

It really does suck that shipping makes up a large percentage of the total price in buying one of these great straps.
Agree, it does suck. That's way next time I want to order I will make sure I get more than one strap. Last 2 times I ordere from Broadarrow I was in between two straps. Finally I made my decision and ordered one. I should have got both. Now, next time I order I will make sure I have a list of the straps I like and want so I order it at the same time to save on shipping.
I have only got zulu straps from Broadarrow/MWR. Shipping price sucks but the quality of the straps are great and worth it. I don't even bother looking elsewhere.

I found a guy selling them on The military watch resource forum. The price was good ($12 shipped), and they all looked the same at that point :) I guess you get what you pay for.

Do the Maratec NATOs have the notch in the buckle that keeps it in place? I can see that the J Crew one definitely does, I think that is what the strap I have is missing.

Well I sourced mine from ebay, but considering that this thread is two years old, I don't think the OP cares anymore... :D

Edit: Andrew, you're new here, welcome! On the top left corner you'll find the date of the last post, in this case you answered a two year old question. Cheers mate!!

I didn't notice that either, but it just so happened that I was looking for information about these things and this was the top thread in this section! Helped me out anyway

Re: Cheapest place for NATO straps

I replied to this ancient post because I felt that it would be a waste to start an identical thread when this one exists.

BTW, according to my research Panatime has the cheapest shipping for Maratac products, especially the 4-ring Zulus which are my favorite. First class shipping would only be $3.50 for an unlimited amount of straps. Then again, I'm sure it depends on where one lives.

Got my Bond for £ 5.75 (about $9 i guess) off ebay. Had no problems with it in the 5 hours that I've been wearing it
    Fashionably late.

Just got my Maratac, the quality difference over the old one I had is noticeable. No problems so far, though I've only had it on for a couple of days.
