I would like to send you a Maratac-- no charge. Feel free to cut it, punch holes in it, burn it, and even have it tested in a lab. It has NOT ONE shred of Kevlar (tm) in it.
I have been in the watch and strap industry going on 10 years. In that time I have seen quite a bit, including a previous Kevlar debacle half a dozen years ago. A seller was advertising their straps as Kevlar. Someone sent a strap to a lab to be tested and it was found to be devoid of any Kevlar. It did not go well for the seller.
I am giving you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe yours are Kevlar (tm) or maybe you have been sold a bill of goods. What I can tell you is that Kevlar (tm) is a US made aramid fiber that is costly and quite hard to work with. Is it being sent to China to make watchstraps? I haven't the foggiest, but I would suspect not.
When you get my Maratac sample, cut it in half. Then take one of your ruined hole Ted Su Kevlars and cut it in half. Compare the cross sections and that should help end the debate.
You've said yourself that you don't know what yours are really made of. You have also said you don't know what the Maratacs are made of. Yet, you are sure that our two straps are not the same material. How you draw that conclusion, I do not know. If it turns out that the materials are the same, perhaps you should buy the straps from me and put your own buckles on them. It might save you some money.
Cheers,
Bob
