My logic was that the area closest to the lugs were most visible so I should start there but starting at the tip makes more sense now.

Worked out like a charm with this one..

    Thank you Candy!

I feel like I am getting better and I still learn something with every strap I make. I want to feel comfortable enough to work with the exotics like yours soon.

Leather is funny that every time I switch pieces I feel like it's a different material that I'm working with.

Thanks for the advice everyone - my tips are looking better already....

It's perfect now. :) Just need edge beading for finish looks.
I'm preparing a topic for exotic leathers and other high end leather like Horween, Buttero, Alran Goat Leather...etc. It's exactly as what you said: every leather part is different story.
    I'll share with you soon.

I personally never start from the tip, I always start from the lugs, that way the stitching holes are perfectly inline, it's easy to make the gaps freehand for the points that even out nicely, however all that said and done if it works then why change what works for you Ed.

I absolutely hate this, although to the naked eye it doesn't show, it bothers me tremendously, stitching that doesn't balance and match at the lugs.

So here's my latest one. I feel pretty comfortable with all the tools now and I'm pretty consistent when it comes to cutting and stitching. I was confident enough to make a few for my buddies that came out surprisingly well.

I actually have to take a break for a little while. I messed up my thumb somehow with all this practicing and it's to the point where I wake up in the morning with a constant sharp pain in my thumb joint that won't go away.

    Sucks getting old...

Hope the thumb gets better soon! You get much better at this and I may look at some strap requests myself ;)
