My wife put a stop to purchasing watches and straps so I started making my own from old baseball gloves I had. I found I really enjoyed it and then a few of my baseball buddies started asking for some. I've sold about 30 of them and being able to purchase some real watches and the wife I'm using that money for new watches. Let me know what you guys think. Be brutally honest. Keep in mind I do this as a hobby and something to pass the time. No pro here.
I used official MLB Rawlings balls and added lambskin to the inside. I used the same thread from the balls.
The 4 baseball straps were made for former Colorado Rockies pitcher Manny Corpas. 3 of the balls were used during the 2013 Rockies 20th Anniversary Season
These straps are a very clever idea, beautifully executed. This has a chance to go huge for you, from a business standpoint. I wonder if it "blows up" like I think it could, if you'll run into any problems with MLB or the glove and baseball manufacturers? Licensing and such? Hell, try to work out a deal with MLB! Get these bad boys on their website! You'll need to knock out some walls at home and build a factory!
My dad's bday is coming up and his always liked my Nighthawk so decided to buy him his own watch and made him a custom baseball strap being the huge baseball fan and sticking by his CO Rockies. Poor Guy lol but true fan. Made it from left over parts of a Bob Schmidt Glove that I had made for another WUS member.
The next time I'm at my Mom's house, I'm going to rummage through the closets to try to find my old Willie Stargell first basemen's mitt. If I do, I may request a special project from you. That glove saw me through many a day on the ball diamond.
I sent you a message the other day. Got a great response back. Can't wait to get one of these in the near future. I would get it now if I didn't have 6 straps in the mail from all over...
Made this strap using a ball from the 1998 All Star game at Coors Field. It has the Rockies colors. Thread is same from the ball purple and green and has black lambskin on the inside.
Wondering if you've done anything in 18mm. I'm curious if you have any gloves with logos/ branding that would work on a strap of that size. I'm not a huge baseball person but if you have anything Canadian themed that would be sweet. Random list I know but your straps look amazing.

Just received a Cal Ripkin Jr. strap from Miguel. The strap is very nice and has a soft feel.
The strap was ordered on Sunday and received the following Saturday with several updates in between regarding the details of the progress of the strap and opportunities for customization (lamb skin liner color, strap length, keepers, etc.).
