An example, blackout luminox 3050, black rubber strap sometimes swapped for bright orange NATO... Looks fantastic and people notice the watch and ask me about it when they saw the exact same watch on a black strap and if didn't even register! This is one example of many, but u get the idea!

no you are not alone pete -the straps are affordable [sometimes] fun part of virtually creating a new watch to your collection - much greater sense to wear your favourite three watches on a regular rotation but to change their character and appearance should it appeal to you on a whim than be coersed into needing to purchase yet another watch -i have maybe five or so different looks to each of my favourites-and go from bracelet -strap -strap-bund -nato and so on on a weekly basis -and in someways seems to temper that lust for another watch if that makes sense -a nice handmade leather is a thing of beauty no doubt just wish i had the talent to make one of my own and i envy those that can create them !

I must look into making my own, or reading about people who do. This is not something I have ever looked into. I maybe need to start looking into the handmade leather strap world, and not just NATOs and Zulus....

really peter you are missing something if you just settle fabric natos etc -personally i dont own one- i dont want to put a $5 strap on a $10.000 watch- i have some nato straps in handmade leather-cant compete with as serious leather strap on a nice watch

This is really interesting. I am trying to custom make a leather strap to fit a glidelock buckle I am getting from .........s to fit my squale 30 atmos ceramica. What color leather should I make it? Natural or brown?
