Perlon are my favorite one piece, no excess strap, no extra metal to scratch the car or door jams.

My skin reacts to metal and also some leathers depending on the chemicals used. I couldn't wear a watch for more than a day or two before having to stop wearing them for days or weeks while the irritation cleared up. NATO and Zulu straps solve both problems and I can now wear watches all day long. I am a happy camper.

I have yet to find a nato or zulu strap I like. I much prefer the buckle opposite the watch head—just feels more balanced—as opposed to hardware on the side that makes the watch wear crazy wide. I do like the practicality with regards to losing a springbar though. Is there a specific term for the style of nato or zulu straps that keep the position of the buckle towards the bottom of the wrist like a traditional 2-piece? I've tried several (3 ring vs 5 ring, nato and zulu) and so far all have been on the side. I also don't like how thin they tend to be.

The oem Omega nato strap has different proportions compared to the others, it helps much, to keep the buckle on the bottom of the wrist.

I'm working on the PhenomeNato straps, and I've designed them, to position the buckle on the bottom of the wrist ;)

    A highly subjective topic.

Personally I like the way fabric straps feel much better than leather or metal. I do not own and metal bracelet watches as I absolutely hate the way they feel and look. Pretty much all of the pieces in my collection are field watches and/or very rugged utilitarian looking and functioning. That reflects my tastes and my personality. I do not care for dress watches at all and would not wear one even if going to a formal event. It's just not me.

I like the way frabic/nato straps feel and look. To me they are very comfortable, almost as if I'm not even wearing anything. I also find them very appealing because I find them practical and humble. There is nothing at all pretentious or showy about a nice field watch with a nato strap yet at the same time there is a very simple elegance and cleanliness that I appreciate.

I really like perlon straps for their thinness and ability to exactly fit my wrist. I'm not a huge fan of the thicker nato straps, I just don't like the look of the added bulk of the strap folded back on itself.

It also depends a lot on wrist size. I have an 8 inch wrist and trust me, NATO's are uncomfortable at best for me. Unless they are made extra long for wearing in a dive suit I can't even get them threaded through the second buckle most of the time, and I end up with a pointless extra buckle plus the strap sort of just sticking out. It just doesn't work. Perlons I have never tried, something about them just looks sort of cheap and tacky.

It's my favorite type of strap. Very light, very strong (unless you cut it with scissors), very flexible, comes with tons of variations, and I don't have to worry about banging it on a desk, unlike metal which can get scratched.
