    16250 white thunderbird .....

Just got this 16250 thunderbird with this white dial from late 70's. Just attracted by this interesting white dial which I was told it is called "boiler plate" dial. It is a rail dial, I think the dial is not procelain but is a bit look like procelain.....

    Thanks for watching ......

I believe it was called the 'boiler guage' dial because its look resembles a boiler guage face...but that wasn't what Rolex called it...it was probably labeled 'white arab' or something to that effect. Lots of times the nominclature used on forums takes on the 'official' labeling, when in fact, in the world of corporate Rolex, names are completely different.

It was finished with a gloss white paint, thus the look of porcelain.

Regardless of what you call it, it's truly a classic, looks great and has the added thunderbird rotating bezel feature. If I didn't have more than enough timepieces already, I'd aspire to one as well.
