Perhaps everyone says this after a price increase, but I do not think that I would pay $5750 for an Exp. II. Bought mine from an AD last Sept. for $4300 and still felt reservations. Also, the snap down flap on the wrist catch reminds me of a beer can pull. It seems a bit whimpy.

As for other brands, I am surprised that you all do not talk more about IWC.

Don't ppl ever read posts properly? In the beginning of my Post I already said "First of all I'm not bashing on Rolex as I have a Rolex in my collection and will still keep collecting them as if my finances could afford it." I didn't come here to Bash on any brand, I'm just a bit dissapointed with my Rolex as it's not up to par like how they should be.

My Sub isn't even a month old yet. I set it at daylight savings time and its gained one second since last saturday night. I can't complain. I love it!

    I read your post properly

I have a Rolex, 2 Breitling, and an Omega - I like them all. They have their differences but that is ok, for me. After I bought the GMT in 1996 I wore it 80% of the time, and 15% of the time the Emergency since I bought that one - mainly for travelling.

At the end of last year I needed to get the battery in the Emergency replaced, since that cost me around € 350. I decided to wear it more often. And it is always on time.

Ok, the Emergency is not comparable with a Rolex, but I think the build level is on an exceptional high level, the Colt Superocean on the other hand is far from a Rolex - oh well it was my first 'real watch' and I still like it even though its not that precise.

I have to disagree with you, I have own both makes and they are both excellent watches.
I would hardly describe Brietling watches as "costume jewellery" they are out and out sport watches.
Have you seen some of the "Bling" that Rolex have designed, for example the GMT II "ICE" at a whopping £256,500.00 now that is "costume jewellery"
But each to their own opinion in the end and for that I do respect your comments.

One thing I have experienced with Breitling is that they are NOT as robust as Rolex. I wear my Sub as an everyday work watch (film props industry) and the strap and case show NO signs of wear. A couple of weeks with a Breitling Superocean in the same work environment and it is scratched all over! They are simply not tool watches. The high polish is a fashion design statement. The thought of serious diving with one is a bit of a joke. The sand and grit would decimate the bracelet. You really can't beat Rolex for strength and design. Breitling do have their place but they ARE jewellery first and instruments second.

Hehe I also have 1 Rolex, 2 Breitlings and a Omega. Same number of brands like you do and yes I do find the quality on the Rolex slightly better, I wouldn't say by far but better.

Ya high polished watches will always show scratches, but out of my 4 the Rolex has the most battle scars as I wear this watch doing everything. It surely can take a beating and not saying the other brands can't as well. The others show a fair amount of battle scars too

    MHASS,
In the future i was thinking of buying the emergency for travelling too (as you never know)

Why did you have to replace the battery? Is the Emergency a quartz watch? And $350??? isn't that a little excessive for a battery?

Yes it is a quartz and I wouldn't touch a quartz watch whatever the make! Breitling like their quartz.
