Why did you have to replace the battery? Is the Emergency a quartz watch? And $350??? isn't that a little excessive for a battery?
Well, yes it is a quartz, but its a good quartz and I think for a pilots watch not so unusual to be a quartz. Very precise after all. Its a unique watch and for that it was worth for me to take buy a quartz watch. Its not as if Rolex (or any other brand) has an alternative to the Emergency.

The first battery lasted me almost 7 years. The price point is in part because of the nature of the emergency the AD's are not allowed to perform much on their own, if its a service or a battery exchange it has to be send to Breitling, Switzerland.

WOW... that's crazy.. I understand that they don't want AD's to open the watch but to have to send it across the world for a $2.00 battery is just insane (to me).

If you have a modern Rolex 3135 movement performing as poorly as you state, then you might have a lemon

After 3 decades, and over a dozen Rolexes of different movements, I have never had one off by as much as yours..

I usually stay in the dwf, public and affordables. Just couldn't resist this thread. I have 3 rolexes and won't ever buy another one. Why? its not the price at all. the size is perfect, no need to be a huge watch as they are designed to be comfortable to the point of not being aware you are wearing one. have a old sub, recently restored to its old new glory. its really new now and shiny. have 2 daytona's, never worn. beautiful watches both. I have some breitlings also, and not a bad word on them either. none are bling, just straight forward divers. thats it and have a great week!
    Hi Yamahaki
Not sure if I understand your point you state that you have got 3 Rolex's and that you won't ever buy another one.
But IMO you don't actually give a reason why you don't like them.
Also if you have own 2 Daytona's, but have never worn them, are they the S/S models, if so would you like to sell them, so that somebody who does appreciate them can wear them.:thanks
    Cheers

Did you not want to take your ROLEX in for a regulation? It will benefit from it. Why not take it in? And do yourself a favor and take it to a RSC if you've got one close; since this is your first ROLEX, you'll want the "treatment" experience, whatever that is!

**No, I do not find them over-rated.

As in time accuracy and other specs I did many time tests between Omega/Breitling/Rolex on time accuracy and my Rolex does the poorest out of the three. I haven't done a long test with the Omega as it's still new but between my Breitlings and Rolex I have done a 2 week test in different over night resting positions and this is the best I could get. Also my Breitlings and Rolex I've had them for about 8 months now.

**Only technodweebs do $hit like that. Give me a break, it's a diving watch.

Time.gov was used for the tests on time tracking accuracy.

Breitling Caliber 13 doing +1 sec fast per day(crown rested down overnight resting position)
Breitling Caliber 37 doing +1 sec fast per day(dial facing up overnight)
Rolex Caliber 3135 +6 sec fast per day(crown down position)
Omega Caliber 2500 0-0.5 sec fast per day(crown upwards position)

**Again, more technodweeb stuff. Obviously though, your Rolex needs to be regulated, and can be done at Rolex USA or other such facilities.

Since after getting my latest acquisition which was the Omega I've been wearing it all week and my other watches didn't get any wrist time so I decided to do a Power Reserve test on them. I just finished a power reserve test between my Breitlings vs Rolex. As Breitling states their watches with a minimum power reserve of 42 hrs and Rolex at 50 hrs, I sync'd them all giving them a full 40 winds at the same time and left them on my dresser without touching them. Anyhow in the end results the Rolex died before the Breitlings did. I was quite shocked. Breitlings are still ticking at the moment, not ticking strong and slowly but still ticking. Here I find Breitling a bit underrated with their watch specs.

**I don't recall how long a Rolex is supposed to last off my wrist, but then again I don't care that much as I wear it 24 hrs a day for the most part. If I change to another dive watch, it is usually for only a day and that isn't enough to worry about my Rolex running down.

Breitling Caliber 13 49 hrs still ticking slowly
Breitling Caliber 37 49 hrs still ticking slowly
Rolex Caliber 3135 died at 47 hrs

**La-di-da... big deal... 3 hrs from your projected 50. It's all relative to each Rolex dude.

With these results I'm a bit dissapointed with my Rolex but all in all I still love the Rolex brand for it's nice simple design and quality in the bracelet and finish on it's casing. Anyhow I just find Rolex a bit over-rated with it's so called superior in house movement and a bit over priced especially with their recent price increase. I know not all watches from each brand behave like this, you may get lucky with some or you don't. But for me no luck with the Rolex brand. Is it just me with badluck with Rolex or others have badluck as well? As of now I just wear my watches and try to enjoy them even if they aren't keeping time so accurately.
**Rolex IS superior. Rolex makes their own movements, ebauches, etc and doesn't use CHINESE parts like other watches out of Switzerland. Breitling for one doesn't put Swiss Made on the dial anymore because of these shady practices I speak of. When you buy Rolex, you know you are getting a real Swiss made timepiece, and that it is high quality. Your petty arguments are ridiculous, stating you are having "bad luck", "no luck" with Rolex is laughable. I get tired of Technogeeks who don't use these watches for their designed purpose, nor know what a Rolex is capable of (Sea Dweller for instance) talking crap about them and pulling ridiculous +/- specs out of thin air in comparisons. Who cares? They are mechanical timepieces and NONE will run exactly as designed all the time. That is why they need service occasionally.
