Is it worth it to trade in your Rolex?

Hello all,

Does anyone know if you will get good trade in value on your Rolex? I have a Rolex Datejust 31mm that I got for my wife 8 years ago. She is not into watches and it is just sitting there. I was thinking of trading it in to upgrading to something else. I have the explorer for myself but was wondering what everyone opinion was? Or should I just I hold on to it? Thanks.

sell it privately... like cars, rolex ad will screw you every time because they're in it to make money too. and before you ask how much we think you should charge read the rules and dont ask that question

Yes Rolex's are worth selling they hold their value much better than other watches out there. You still of course wont get what you payed for it.

The date just unfortunately doesn't hold it's value as well as some other models, let alone a women's 31mm. Sell it privately or hand it down.

I have an honest AD who is also a friend. rather than trading, he'll give me an honest appraisal, then put my watch on consignment. I get more than a trade in. I'm willing to let the consignment fee cover all the trouble of advertising, selling, &
collecting the money. JMHO.

I bought a datejust in 2000 for $3000, NIB from an AD. I traded it to the same AD for an Explorer in 2008 and got $3000.
