so weird enough i have been kinda trying to keep a little mental log of when it resets... might be random times, and or when i take a sweatshirt, fleece or even a sweater off. could i tbe that i am doing this with a little electric static? is that a big jump of an idea?

Not a big jump of an idea. Other people have suspected the jumper/static/reset thing in the past, as Mystro mentioned above. That might be your answer.

well sounds like the best thing to do is get one of those fix it kits off ebay and see if i can get it fixed.... i am kidding around. my serial number is a 838XXXX so i think i will send it in at the end of the week. i really enjoy the watch. i always freak out a little when i tap my pocket and my knife isnt there or i look at my wrist and my watch isnt on. just need to find a good week to get it done. i have read that the turn around time is pretty quick on getting it fixed or replaced, any one know first hand. i am in the states, wisconsin, so i dont have to mail over seas. thanks for all the help.

Re: core resetting and service by sunnto

thnx for all the help. so my suunto is from 2008 / 34th week (august i think). I've changed the battery yet again. went on for a whole week without reseting, I've put it down and when i picked it up it was on blank screen again. maybe it shut off when i took it off or when i undressed but i didn't notice. anyway. something's definitely wrong because the battery i've put in just a week ago today when i took it out was completely flat !

since i live in Romania i have to ship it back to Finland or the nearest repair center? (note. there's no repair center in Romania, the nearest i could find is in Czech Republic i believe)

also, will Suunto repair my watch for free or will this cost me an arm and a leg? and is it a problem that i'm not the first owner and that i don't have any original case / warranty papers / receipt etc etc ? what do you guys think?

It has been an issue in the past, so it is likley to be a replacement at no cost to you. Usually they do the Cores with no need for original documentation. But I dont know about that service center. I would think its likely no problems.

Given the excellent customer service of Suunto and the fact that it's a well known problem (more than likely a manufacturing or design problem), they will replace it for free (see my recent thread about my replacement).

The one thing you may get charged for is for the shipping. I don't know about where you are, but in the UK, and I think the US, if the pick-up/drop-off for the courier company is at a residential address there will be a charge. Free if it's at a business address.

Ignore it. It's a standard message. They will give you a quote for a repair if they intend to charge you. If you don't want to go for the repair then I would presume they would send you the watch back without charge.
