    Which foot POD?

I'm looking to buy a foot POD to use with my 3T. Which foot POD will be compatible with both Suunto and Garmin? I'll probably buy either a Ambit or a Fenix later this year, and I don't want to end up having to buy another foot POD at that point.

Neither the Ambit or fēnix support foot pods at this stage. Although Suunto recently announced that the Ambit will support ANT+ foot pods with a November firmware update. Maybe Garmin will follow suit, but will have to wait for the launch of the fēnix later this month to see.

    So,
Only the Suunto footpod will work with the T3. (proprietary ANT protocol)
That will almost certainly never work with any Garmin.
It might work with the ambit in the future. TBD. My guess is probably someday.

This is only half of the Truth.

Yes only the Suunto Foot Pods are working with the t3.
But the newer Suunto SDM4 Foot Pod (the small one) is working with Garmin Devices. DC Rainmaker wrote that once in his Blog and i can confirm that. The Suunto Foot Pod is also working with my Garmin FR 60.

I can report this too, the smaller Suunto footpod is both Ant and Ant+. It will work with any Ant+ device and all older Suunto models that support the footpod. I would suggest purchasing the SDM4 as well. After all you don't want your footpod to say Garmin do you:)

Wait a minute; I thought the SDM4 was a Garmin device?

Update: Oops... now I see the "as well". Never mind.
Update 2: No, I'm not sure what the "as well" is referring to. Question still stands.

Thanks for the photos gaijin, I am away from home in Europe and don't have my footpod with me. Both are made by Dynastream but the one that says "Suunto" works with my T6c and is going to work with my Ambit:) The Garmin-branded only works with Garmin devices and if the information is correct, the Ambit. I have both, anyone want to purchase the Garmin footpod for a reduced price?
