    New core

Hello I am new to the forum. I recently got a new suunto core yellow black. Got a great deal on it and I love it. But I have been moved to night shift for awhile and honestly I always have to use the light to see the time even if there is some ambient light available. Loved the watch during the day. So I have purchased a core light black model I hope helps with the view at night cuz it has a positive face. My question is I want to protect the face of the watches. I have a zagg shield on the yellow black. It doesn't fit quite right. Does anyone have the yellow black or the light black and know what the crystal size is?? On suuntos web page it just says aproximatly 34mm for all cores. Also if anyone has any other ideas to protect the screen I'm open to suggestions as well.

Also as I'm messing with the watch. Using the compass and the light at the same time. The light flashes. Is that normal?? My battery warning isn't on

Thanks for the info. I'm hooked on suuntos now. It amazes me that before I can even get out of my car. The watch automatically switches back to Baro mode. Can't wait to get my light black model in this week hopefully. The elemental terra is in my sites now. But for that price I might get a YES Zulu first. Been in love with yes watches for years. Also I looked around at different post. For the zagg shield. Looks like a 38mm for the yellow black core and a 35mm for the light black sence it has the same bezel as the all black model. That seem right?? Well gotta stop rambling I can talk about certain watches all day. Lol

    Re: New core

I guess I have one more question. As I stated the watch has been switching from Baro to the alto mode very well on its own. I have noticed after a few days go by the reference altitude is way off and the Baro is off by a good .10 inhg or more, sometimes 15 or 20. Now I live in southern Louisiana so I don't really need the alto function as much as the Baro will be used. Would it be more accurate if I just change the profile to Baro and leave it instead of auto. Or is it just me being picky and expecting too much accuracy out of the sensors?? It has sw 1.2.2 so it's not old software. I just don't get how I'm losing altitude every few days. I used info from a helipad close to my house for the reference altitude and the current Baro reading from the local weather station which is also only a few miles away.

Its totally normal. Its called barometric drift. The changes in barometer... especially sudden changes like cars, houses, etc will throw the sensor off. Thats why you need to re-calibrate the ALTI when outside and before you want accurate readings.

You can probably search on Barometric drift and find LOTS here.
