    Newbie's Ramblings

After lurking here for quite some time & learning about Suunto & ABC watches, I went & got myself 3 Suunto watches, all within this year.
And to top that, I decided to join this forum!

    Vector Black (+ve Face)
The Vector Black (+ve face) is easy for me to read because of the large time, day, date & month fonts, & sharp contrast.
I wish Suunto can upgrade the Vector by adding storm alarm feature while maintaining everything else.

    Ambit
Next, I got the Ambit to replace my ageing Timex GPS Global Trainer. The Ambit’s GPS is much superior as it can lock on to satellites in a few seconds.
My Timex takes about 2 to 3 minutes, from the same starting location.

My complaints about the Ambit are the lack of independent Stopwatch, Countdown Timer, Weather Trend Indicator, Storm Alarm, Inputting of Waypoints directly, etc.
I have already written to Suunto & hope that they can include these features in the next firmware update.

IMO, Suunto should have incorporated all the functions of the Core & X10 into the Ambit when they first released it.

For now, the Ambit will only be my exercise watch, & not my everyday watch.

    Core All Black
After being caught in the rain several times while outdoors, I needed a watch with Storm Alarm! And I got myself the Core All Black a few days ago. I have set the altitude to my location, selected barometer profile & selected storm alarm on. So far, there has been no storm coming my way, so I can't test if the alarm works. Anyway, I have no complaints about the Core so far.

    Thanks
    Tony

    Welcome to the forum.

"After being caught in the rain several times while outdoors, I needed a watch with Storm Alarm!"

A good book on meteorology and experience reading the field signs will help a lot as well. One think I have noticed, no matter what is on you wrist... It mother nature wants to rain.... its going to rain :)

Welcome to the forum, you have pulled three winners there, but as far as the Ambit goes, werent the features of the T6 or the M5 just as valid? A watch that has a GPS and a HRM is specifically geared to trail runners. But, just so you know, I agree. I would like better functionality from the ABC features of the watch, and a way to directly input coordinates (in UTM!).
