    Quest/HR belt Issue

Has anyone had issues with the "Dual Comfort Belt"?

I purchased a Quest a couple of week back which worked great at first. Midway through the first week though some signal drops started sneaking in periodically, and then by the end of the week the HR graph for a 40 minute walk looked like this:

After reversing the belt connection(even though I couldn't see anything wrong with the electrical contacts) it seemed to be back to normal but then the signal drops slowly started again. I also tried changing to new batteries but that didn't change anything. Sent a message to Suunto CS last week but haven't heard back so I gave up and returned the unit...

Did I get a lemon or are Suunto HR units just not reliable enough?

I Have had some problems with reception mostly with my Ambit. Like you reversing the strap helped but also I noticed it was worst when it was cold and I was not "sweaty". The initial moistening had obviously dried out and I think the skin contacts weren't the best. Shame you returned the Quest. I really find it fun w.r.t downloading programmes and the intensity reminders. If it had an altimeter it would be perfect training tool.

It's been completely dry and warm here for a few weeks so it didn't take long for it to become sweaty but unfortunately that had no effect.

This was my first HRM and likewise I found it fun when it was working properly. I didn't really follow any programs but ended up going out for extra walks or bike rides just to see the calendar fill up.

Im with you on this, plus GPS, to replace the foot pod. I would have preferred Suunto to go down this route, rather than the Ambit - 1 device fits all.

I have found the foot pod to be very accurate. I took my iPhone for the first 5 or so runs and adjusted the Quest each time to the iPhone GPS distance. Now it is within 50m of the GPS over a 10Km run!

Sounds like a dodgy belt or unit. My Quest has worked perfectly. Synchs with HRM/foot pod/bike pod straight away and no problems with signal drop.

Suunto have pretty good customer service so sure you'll get it sorted.
