You can order an adaptor for this on Amazon, the problem is not necessarily the battery but the storage capacity of the unit. It cannot store more than 15h of 1s GPS fix and I don't have an answer from Suunto on the 60s GPS fix but it can record at least 45h worth of data. The memory is circular so if you charge and keep collecting data you will simply overwrite what you have recorded.

O Thanks!!... did you see the Case Sudies page https://powertraveller.com/iwantsome/case%20studies/ Their products have been used in remote locations and in Everest, desert and artic regions with great success. Looks promising Actually after looking the powertravellor product pages I went out and bought an Ambit yesterday

I like my Ambit, I think it is great and the upcoming software update will make navigation much better. Solio chargers work well too, I have used one with an X9i. Here is the adaptor for a mini to normal USB for charging the Ambit. I have a PowerTraveler Monkey and this works with the Ambit. I have one of these with 2 x AA batteries AA usb emergency charger | eBay You can recharge your Ambit over and over again with a single pair of fresh AA's. You can also use rechargeable batts. Its a great gizmo.2 x AA's are powerfull enough to do a full recharge on my Galaxy S or Iphone. It depends on the AA's capacity.
