    Suunot Core Glacier Gray

    Hi All:

I just bought the watch above. I did do a search and was reading about the Storm Alarm going off @ "exact" times, i.e., 3:00 , 4:30 etc..it was explained as watch is reading every 15 minutes and account for the times the alarms go off. But when it has gone off is on days with high pressure and blue skies , not a cloud in the sky and with no chance of rain for even a 24 hour period. Yes, the pressure has either dropped or risen when the alarm went off, but again not a cloud in the sky..anyone know why? Seems like a case of crying wolf and how would it help in a real situation where weather could pose a problem.

    Thanks for your help.

    Best,

    Blaine

The alarm goes off if the barometric pressure drops >4hPa in 3 hr period. The alarm is merely a pressure change warning, not a meteorological forecast! It may be that the relatively quick drop in pressure could indicate poor weather approaching. It is a tool to remind you to look around and make some good judgements.

Couldn't have said it better. "Storm Warning" is a misleading title. In the winter, my alarm would go off so many times, I stopped using it.

    Thank you

I will go with misleading. It was 7:00 AM (again, always goes off on the hour, half hour and 15 minute mark) and again, not a cloud in the sky and no word of any rain etc., for the next 24 -36 hours. So the entire weekend with a altitude of 810 FT (flatlander) it has gone off a half dozen times under the most beautiful weather we have had this Spring so far. If I were to have relied on this as indicated by Suunto, their AD and the information (including a example in the instructions) I would have altered plans etc...if in a situation that warranted it. So it is a little disappointing that it turned out to be what I thought and now confirmed, a "gadget" @ best that really provides useless information when it comes to this feature.

Thank you gentlemen for all your help!

    Best,

    Blaine

    Re: Thank you

Sounds like you have a baro alarm on, Check your manual on how to find out and turn it off.
