    Suunto Ambit : Disappointed ! did i get a lemon ?!

    Suunto ambit is finally on sale in Singapore and i just drove through a peak hour traffic to get mine today.

    After connecting it to moveslink and setup my account, i callbrated the compass and lock my GPS location on it.

    But when i go to the Alti-baro screen by pressing the "next" button, it shows 1013 and 0 deg celsius here in Sunny Singapore !!

    I try to force update the firmware and it still shows the same reading !

    Even the service menu shows the air pressure and temperature as 0..

    Where did i go wrong ? Or did i get a lemon ?

    Looks like its a defect. Either call Suunto ASAP or exchange it . This would be the first if it is defective. Keep us updated.

    i just sent an email to suunto regarding this problem,and i will contact the dealer tomorrow and discuss my options with them.

    hopefully will turn out favorably!

    It will... Suunto is too good of a company. You will be fine.

    I think the service menu has a reset / power down function as well. Have you tried that, just to see if anything changes?

    Cobrapa: i did try the GPs reset function in the service menu, but still the same..

    I went down to Suunto distributor this morning and ask for a replacement,but the lady told me they need to wait for their technician to certify before they can replace or repair.

    After some "Arguing and insisting" they relented and replaced a new one for me!

    Hopefully everything goes well for this watch.

    Does the temp reading work on this one? I think I would have checked that before leaving the store again!

    It sounds like a simple temp sensor was defective. It's a simple and robust part. They either work or they don't and don't fail often after they are working. Manufacturing defects do happen. You should be fine.

    It's working fine now :)

    I get the lady to check the function for the replacement before i left the place, "just in case"

    Did a short ride on my bicycle around my neighbourhood to try out the ambit and is very impressed with the datas it captures!
