Hmm. I wonder what "GPS Timekeeping" means. Is that 'sync watch to gps time', or something else?

I hope so. That way we can move on, and start asking for useful features.

My guess is this referring to GPS-synced time.

I hope that is the case. I'll lose a bet if it is, but it would be an excellent feature.

Re: Suunto Press Release Regarding New Ambit Features

How about a statement on the 'Current' Feature/Function list???

I was hoping to read that they would be addressing some of the current issues/bugs like the Pause function. I could use a Pause function that actually Paused instead of generating an unwanted lap. That would be great.

Actually, I think there has been enough concern or doubt about the reported distance and calories burned in a 'Move' that Suunto should come out with a statement about those items as well.

Don't get me wrong, I love "New" Features & Functions (that actually work). I get excited about all the possibilities and personally I would love to have a "New" Auto-Pause function, but why should I trust these new features when the old features issues have not been addressed?

    Just my 2 cents....

Who says they haven't been addressed? They may have been but just haven't been identified in this press release. Won't know for sure until the updates land.

Re: Suunto Press Release Regarding New Ambit Features

If they get this update right, this watch rocks for me! It is already proving reliable with what it has, but I have been waiting for some of the the features in this release from day 1( UK OS grid in particular); having the faith that Suunto would deliver and they have.

The concept of an updateable watch could be seen as a no-go area for some companies, but look at the facts; when Garmin come out with somthing better they can update and maintain sales with a little extra advertising and not having to re-tool for a totally new device. To me this makes sense and if the get it right, they maintain sales and a better margin due to reduced cost. Overall if the technology moves on and they can produce a new smaller more feature rich model they will, but why bother until the tec has moved on. Those of us who have had a good Suunto experience and cannot resist the latest tec will always upgrade, so Suunto have not killed their market but made it stronger. Just look at those of us on the forum with many Suunto watches and this will not be the last! Just MHO but it is looking more and more like they got this one right.
