    x6m vs core

    Question is serious:

other than arguably better look of the core (and disregarding sunset and sunrise mode) is there a particular reason one should pick up Core vs. X6M? Are there any technological advancments on Core that justify paying 150 bucks more?

I'm looking at getting a christmas gift for family member... I can get X6m black at Costco for 249... Core Extreme goes for 379 at local outdoor store...

What's your take here? Am I right in thinking that Core as compared to x6m didn't really bring anything fundamentally new in terms of technology or accuracy?

The X6M is built better but the core has newer/better technology. Graphics are way better on the Core.
You can get a much better price on a Core from Tate defence on Ebay.

Sorry to bump this, but had a couple ?s for you:

I'm mainly concerned with the compass feature in my decision to purchase a Suunto (other than asthetics). In that sense, does the core have any particular advantage over the X6M in that sense?

I personally am starting to prefer the look of the compass display on the X6 over the core. It seems easier to use (X6), or is the core compass easier?

Also, your review of the X6 also led me to believe that you thought it to be superior to the core, or no?

    Thanks for the help Mystro

Both function and accuracy are the same. The X6M uses a rose style compass display. I like the bearing tracker arrows on the Core better so it is even as far as what I like. The Core has a bigger display and that might make it easier to get a reading quickly. Its really what you like. Currently, the Core is my favorite because of its huge barometer graphics. The non adjustable strap on the X6M killed it for me in the field. I am also done with negative displays. They are too much of a compromise to read in low light. Its all a matter of what you like.

    This is my favorite ABC:
