With 103 A Sa B trickling in on a weekly bases, I want to bring something extra to the table with this post. I received my #226 a week ago, but have been so busy lately, never got a chance to take it out of box until now. Even tonight, it was just a quick 5min to get some photos then back into the box. Will take some better photos tomorrow in natural light. I ordered my 103 on 8/20th, that is pretty much the first day it was available for public ordering so I'm a bit surprised that some folks ordered after me got theirs before. Not the type that care about the low numbers so it doesn't really bother me.
Cool, a nice cloth for cleaning the watch.
203 Arktis and 103 A Sa B side by side. The case, crown and pushers are identical, polished. Obvious differences are the bezel, dial and hands. This Arktis came with the same blue croc embossed leather strap. Personally I don't like shinning leather nor croc, so it was replaced with a blue "Perlon" like NATO. The dial design of 103 is cleaner without the numerals. The reverse blue panda dial of 103 is extremely attractive. 203 is no slouch, the sub-dials of 203 have guilloche to provide a subtle pop from the main dial.
The color of the two dial a noticeable different. This is something you will not pickup if just looking at the images of these two on Sinn.de. 203 had more reddish tone in the blue, under certain light conditions the dial looks blue. 103 has more gray tone in the blue, it stays blue under.
203 bezel is stainless steel with no insert, the marking are black ink filled embosses. 103 bezel is SS with blue aluminum insert, Sinn tried to match the insert color to the dial, but that would not really be possible since the two items are of different material and color applied with different process. The PIPs of the watch looked to be identical, almost all x03 have this same PIP.
103 has the display back. 203 has a solid SS back, with a snowflake and -45* marking. 203 was the watch that SINN pioneered many cold weather technology that is still in use with many Sinns.
The sub-dial of 103 is of cream color. IMHO a great choice and looks better than white for this watch.
One more side by side.
That is it for now, my better half is looking at me with suspicion. Time to go. Will try to take more photos tomorrow.
