I didnt expect this from a Tegimented bracelet...

I bought this 757 UTC about 2 weeks ago from a forum member. After wearing the watch for a week my Tegimented bracelet is now heavily abraded. When I received the watch it was in pristine condition so all the wear is mine. Im confused because after much research before buying (and again since this occurred) I cant find anyone who reports the same type of wear. Mind you, Ive been very gentle w/ this watch, the wear seems to be a result of resting my arm on my desktop at work. The desktop is some kind of composite material (like a kitchen countertop), that if I had to guess is MUCH softer than Tegimented steel.
Do any of the Sinn veterans have any ideas as to whats going on with my "scratch resistant" bracelet?
Ive attached some pics, I hope they are helpful.
    Thanks,
    Steve

Your desk can be made from a plastic matrix reinforced with tiny bits of mineral crystals/stone.
Take a spoon, check the rounded back is nicely polished, and rub gently it against the desk surface. Does the spoon get scratched? If yes, there is your answer!

Hey Janne, will the same thing happen if my spoon is tegimented? I understand your point but then tegimentation is no better than regular SS. ?

The OP's desk must be made of ground up diamonds to do that much damage in the manner described.

Re: I didnt expect this from a Tegimented bracelet...

The Spook/Desk test was only meant to determine if the desk material contain hard abrasive particles.
A pure plastic or a plastic reinforced with wood fibres will not scratch any metal.
A plastic with stone pieces in will scratch it.
It does not matter if the spoon is Tegimented or not, as long as the stone is harder than the Tegimented surface. Which is most of them (I think most companies use quartzites as fillers)
This is just a simple way to check the filler in the plastic matrix.

I take it you are 100% sure it is Tegimented?

I agree with Janne. Over a period of 17 years my Wife's Rolex bracelet wore completely flat on the side that she rests her wrist on her desk so they can be abrasive.

That wear on a tegimented bracelet is surprising though as my EZM3 bracelt looks a lot better than that and it is not tegimented but I do not have a desk job. I just use it for diving, camping, hunting, shooting and any other rough activity I do.

Hmmh, are you sure it's a tegimented bracelet?
It may sound like a silly question, but Sinn started delivering tegimented bracelets several months after they started delivering 757 UTC's. Mine has serial number 18 and I had to wait about six months for the tegimented bracelet. Although I wear the watch rarely, the bracelet is still pristine, the only scuff marks are on the back of the case, which is obvioulsy not tegimented.

I'm not sure how to tell it's a tegimented bracelet or not, but does yours have hexagonal screws to hold the links together? If not, it wouldn't be a tegimented one. (Although if it has, this does not sufficiently prove that it is tegimented.)

The other test would be the scratch test. Take a nail and try to scratch a part of the bracelet that is normally not visible. Did it leave a mark? If yes, then it's not tegimented. This may sound brutal, but this is exactly what they encouraged me to try when I visited the Sinn showroom 2 years ago to pick up my pre-ordered 757 UTC. (They keep a tegimented case shell there for this purpose, you don't have to try it on your watch.)

You don't need to be squeamish with a tegimented case. See also this contribution from another member: How tough is the black tegimented finish - a non-scientific test.

    Good luck!
