    Question for Carlos

I always wondered why you chose to stop producing the Jellyfish? It seems to me that it was a very popular and attractive design to most folks judging by number of people always looking for one. Here and on other sites.

I understand that the Baiji is the successor but to be honest it doesn't quite do it for me personally. The movement isn't the same and it looks different. Good as it may be it is still not a Jellyfish.

Is there any chance you might ever bring it back? Have you guys considered it? I bet it would be a winner for you. . .

    Thanks,

    BP Green

Please tell me where you can find 6R15 movements in high quantity without having to pay upfront and wait at least 18 months till movements are delivered. Then we can discuss.

    Carlos,

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but your response seems to indicate annoyance with my question. Please excuse my ignorance but I am not very knowledgeable in the field of watches. This is all very new to me as I have just recently gotten into this. I have NO IDEA where one would purchase such a movement - nevermind in quantity.

My question was not intended as a criticism. I am merely a fan of the design hoping that in the future I would have a chance to purchase some of the ones I missed out on. I'm sorry if my question offended you in some way.

Again, I meant no disrespect. I just like the watch. . .

Yeah I thought so too. Like I said. I'm new to the watch thing so if I offended anyone somehow I apologize. I don't know squat about watches other than what I have managed to pick up here and there on sites like this. Like I said, I just like the watch and was wondering about the possibility of them coming back -maybe limited runs or something but whatever. From here on out I'll just keep my mouth shut and read more I guess. . .

    Re: Question for Carlos

No mean to be rude but this topic was covered in other discussions. To make story short the Tsunami + nuclear disaster that affected Japan last year caused issues to Miyota which ceased to temporarily produce their new movement the 9015.

Demand shifted as a result to Seiko automatic movements. Such an increased demand with limited supply resulted in price increases (making a 6R15 cost even more than an ETA 2824 in market ...). Of course is still possible to order movements from Seiko Time Module but if you do so you have to pay upfront for your order and they only deliver movements to you in about a year and half.

We are a small company with limited cash flow as majority of companies around. To pay for a bulk order of let's say 300-500 movements and wait 18 months till delivery would mean we would not be able to produce most watches for that period making it a financial disaster for us.

As an alternative we decided to use Seagull movements as supply exists and direct from Seagull and movement has proven to be quite reliable and very importantly most of its parts are interchangeable with ETA 2824-2 making it possible to get this movement serviced in the long run.

Hopefully managed to clear things up.

I think you might be overly sensitive. Please bear in mind that English is apparently not his first language, so, it may come across as abrupt but I know it certainly wan't meant that way.

    Re: Question for Carlos

I actually prefer the look of the baiji - Nicely balanced in a minimal way and love the SS bezel option. A lot of time seems to have been invested in studying the movement and works well the Chinese Baiji Dolphin theme. A worthy successor to the jellyfish in my mind.
