    Winding problem

Is anyone having trouble manually winding their Manta Rays? When winding with the crown it slips and turns freely for a few revolutions then catches and winds the movement for a couple of turns and then slips again. This repeats over and over as I try to wind the watch using the crown.

Maybe it's the mainspring's slipping clutch being in action to prevent the mainspring from damage.

That is a reasonable assumption but this happened when winding from a totally spent movement.

It's a shame this happened because the Manta is a great watch. It was a gift from a friend and I hope I can get this resolved with out bothering him.
