Buy it or wait? 2 days to decide.

    Hello,
New member here. I'm looking for a Tag Heuer Aquaracer Calibre S in blue. My question is this: there is one (pre-owned) available at Tourneau for about 1300. Is this a good deal for such a watch? I'm not particularly fond of the store, and from reading around, it appears most others aren't as well. But I want the watch and it is the only one where I would be certain that it is authentic. Ebay has a few, but most do not allow returns, and those that do just don't seem right. Should I just wait and see if anyone here sells one? I have about two days to decide on the Tourneau one. Once the sale ends it jumps back up to 1800, which I wouldn't pay.
    Thanks.

Why not? Seems like a good price especially if it comes with a warranty. And...it's brand new! If you want that watch, why not?

Hey, thanks for the reply. The watch isn't brand new--they came out around 2009-2010, but it is certified pre-owned. I'm guessing the quality of the watch is better than most pre-owned ones since they probably wouldn't take something too beat up. So it may look new. I'm still considering it, but most I've seen online that have sold have been for less than that.

Okay but I would bet they go over it with a "fine toothed comb" to make sure they don't lose on the deal when they took it in. So, yes, I would agree that it is probably better than most pre-owned watches. Are you planning on keeping it or flipping it?

I'd keep it. It has the stainless steel band, which I'd probably swap out for a rubber one. Pretty sure they used to sell them with the rubber already but those have been even harder to find. I want it to be my daily wear. I've already got a Formula 1 Tag and will keep that one for when I have to "dress up" though I don't do that often.
I've put in a request to have it shipped to the a nearby store so I can look at it. It should come either tomorrow or Tuesday.

For me, it wouldn't really matter if I paid more for the watch from a jeweler than pre-owned from an individual ...if I planned on keeping it. I would hope the extra cash/jeweler purchase would buy me some peace of mind down the road.

Makes sense, and the piece of mind thing is probably what will cement it. Hopefully it'll come in tomorrow and I can go take a look, been wanting to get one for a while now so I'm pretty excited to finally see one in person.
Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.

So? Did you see the Aquaracer in person? Did you purchase it or leave it in the store?

I'm actually still waiting on it, unfortunately.

The watch came in. I also ordered the rubber strap, which should be there either tomorrow or Saturday. Once that arrives I'll head over and see it.
