Considering a Monaco re-issue and looking for advice

I'd like to have Monaco re-issue in my collection and it seems there are lots of variants (Cal 11, Cal 12, Cal ??)

From what I've been reading and from a historically correct point of view I would lean towards this model (http://www.jomashop.com/tag-heuer-wa...1p-fc6356.html) for the left-side crown and the removal of TAG from the dial. Do you guys think this is the preferred variant or am I missing something by not going with one of the others with right hand crown/pushers).

Everyone would have their favourite Monaco, I'm sure, but the one above is the best to date in my opinion and I don't think I'm alone. Reasons (and you've mentioned some already): dial colour, markers, left-hand crown, Heuer on dial. I'd prefer circular pushers as opposed to the chunky blocks, but you can't have everything.

I can't afford to get a vintage Monaco 1133B, so IMO this is the next best thing.

Re: Considering a Monaco re-issue and looking for advice

OP i agree. I have the CW2113, or calibre 17. I got mine in 2009, the same year that the 40th anniversary was released. Had i known they were releasing a special edition and compared them side by side, i most certainly would have gone for the 40th. I feel that the Cal 11 is truer to the original from 1969, which lets face it, is what we all really want. I also like how the Cal 11 incorporates a little more red in the dial to pop.

One of the things I've noticed after getting a blue silverstone reissue is that I feel more comfortable wearing that over my monaco, and i feel like it comes down to the finish of the dials. The case on the silverstone isn't as sharp or edgy but the dial is a little more subdued with a flat finish compared to the sunburst of my monaco. I've thought about trading the monaco in for the 40th anniversary model but i'm afraid that the dials would be too similar. Plus it was the first real watch i bought out of school so it's got a special place in my heart.

Attached i'm posted a link to Cal11 where they have a photo of the Cal 17,12,and 11 side by side.
