Re: Custom Build - Black PVD Monaco - Thoughts?

If you do a little google on TAG Heuer Monaco watch models, you'll find maybe 3 models that might help you with the crown.
After that, you'll need to find yourself someone/someplace who deals with TAG Heuer parts to get reference numbers.

The hard part might actually be finding a place that can/will sell the crown as TAG Heuer can be a bit picky about supplying parts for a purpose other than direct replacement. If you're lucky, you might be able to order the part through TAG Heuer directly, otherwise, it'll have to be a TAG authorised/recognised service watchmaker but I don't know how common/uncommon they are in the US.

WIS Handbook, Chapter 1, Rules 1 and 2:
    1. Tag Heuer never wins a poll. Should a member feel the need to express the desire to own one, he or she may be subject to ridicule and be ostracized.
    2. Omega wins all polls. Should Omega not be mentioned as a selectable option, it is highly suggested that you still recommend the polling member purchase an Omega, preferably a Speedmaster with hesalite crystal to add extra character and a certain warmess to the dial.

    Thought for the day:
why is it that those with the most to say about watches never have any watches to show?

I started a separate thread asking for help in that regard, with no good advice. Once I get the watch "in hand" and my watchmaker has removed the crown, it will be easier to find a suitable replacement; I don't think it's rocket surgery! If you happen to find some suggestions, I'd be obliged!

There also seem to be a handful of Heuer crowns on eBay, so once I have the proper specs, I don't anticipate that sourcing one should be too much of a problem...

I mean no offence but have you actually Googled for past TAG Heuer Monaco watches as I suggested?
I alluded to there being possibly 3 models that might help you with the crown you are looking for but you, once again, you come back with something along the lines of "just tell me what I am looking for". It's one thing to ask for some help but it's another to ask for other people to look for things for you.

I read you - I figgered out two of them myself - the CW2110 & the CS2110. I'll figger out the third eventually, but I'm mildly retarded - oxygen deprivation in the womb (3rd trimester) or fetal-alcohol syndrome is what my doctor suspects...

I really didn't mean my previous post to offend but it is becoming a pet peeve of mine of late; when people's "research" ends up just being them asking on a forum and then expecting someone else to do the searching for them.

Incidentally, the models you should look for are the original re-edition models that TAG Heuer put out early in the 90s; all of which if I recall correctly were limited editions (my gut says both were 5000). There is also the recent limited-edition that has the left handed crown.
These came with Heuer only branding.

Again, I'm not sure how TAG Heuer are with regards to supplying a part for a limited edition watch for purposes other than as a direct replacement.
A TAG authorised/recognised repair guy should be able to help you with that bit.

Not offended - one of the advantages of being mildly retarded! I know what you mean - as a long-time member of one of the vintage guitar forums, we see the same thing - "Use the Search function!" is the standard response by most of us crabby old guys that don't eat enough roughage...

I've sent an enquiry (see what I did there?) to an authorised (I did it again; too bad I don't have the cool accent!) dealer; awaiting his response...

In all seriousness, I'm pleased (and flattered) that YOU are behind me on this project! I'm a "purist" about a LOT of things (like 1959 Gibson Les Pauls!), but I'm also a visionary - if there's a (cool & tasteful) way to modify something, while at the same time retaining its basic character & integrity - net result being something the whole of which is greater than the sum of its parts, then my vision is rewarded. I'm still diggin' the fact that, although this will certainly be a "Frankenwatch", it will be a proper homage to a "grail" item. Hell - I've got ideas I haven't even THOUGHT of yet!

As am I. I can't believe TAG hasn't made a limited edition like this yet, but I seriously don't have the balls to try and pull something like this off on my Monaco. Before and after pictures, please.
