Several trips to my highly competent repair crew couldn't find anything. I changed my driving pattern and it went away and I was happy with the car.

I guess I could have badmouthed BMW and gotten rid of the car. But it was a nice car otherwise. I didn't want to be unhappy. Fortunately I figured out how to change my behavior. And I still drive a BMW (abet a different one... the other one eventually reached the point where the repair costs on a number of issues exceeded the cost of buying a better replacement - that is often my criteria for car replacement )
I had 3 of the 500m AR's and one of them had the problem. I paid to have it fixed, got rid of it and will not buy another.

I do business with the GM of a large National Tag AD who classified the 500m crown problem as "approaching epidemic" and says it is to the point where it is causing issues with their reputation as a retailer as TAG is refusing to repair under warranty in most cases.

TAG, ARE YOU GETTING THE MESSAGE YET?

We like TAG watches but we're not fools and I doubt that many of the AR 500M owners whom have had the crown tube issues will likely be opening their wallets for another TAG purchase.

It's time to step up and make this right, TAG! (This isn't going to go away until you do!!)

I have the quartz version of this watch. Although I am sure that both the auto and quartz have crown issues, I am sure that it will take a longer time for the problem to surface with the quartz since it does not require winding or setting the time every now and then. At least that is what I am hoping for

I have the black Ti version and I have had no problems with the crown. It thus far has proven to be a great watch since I purchased it 7 months ago. Hope my positive experience continues, but admit a post like this does cause concern.

I've noticed that it's currently trendy among some members to bash TAG Heuer for a number of silly reasons. Ironically, it's never for tangible reasons. Such as crown issues on the 500M, and TAG's decision not to do right by its loyal customers.

I must have had my blue 500m for at least 6 months. I rotate it with my other autos so I do wind and set it quite often if needed, but it is my `daily`wearer. No problems so far, touch wood...

this is the trouble with this issue... right here within this thread

you've got some people saying they haven't had any problems, but on the other hand there are many reports of people that have.

So in TAG heuer eyes they will think that maybe there isn't a issue, but i think it could be possible that their may have been a faulty batch of either crowns or case tubes.

I don't know how rigorously they test this procedure but it could be a possibilty.

Re: Has Tag resolved the Aquaracer Crown issue?

Is there a way to identify the age/manufacture date of the 500m Aquaracers? I just got one now but I don't know when it was made. I used to adjust my Certina on a weekly basis, and plan to do the same with the Tag, It better hold up or I am going to regret not going with the Omega crowd.

Re: Has Tag resolved the Aquaracer Crown issue?

I had the 500m Chrono and it stripped on my third time wearing it and I was aware of the problem so was going easy on it. My AD offered to replace it but I decided to change it for an Omega because of Tag's attitude towards the problem (this was about 2 weeks ago). I will say though that it was a beautiful watch and, if Tag started using a more robust system, I would buy the watch again.

That does not bode well... Were they any warning signs? I find that mine screws in a bit 'easier' than my other watches. Considering that the 500m chronograph came out a year or so after the 500m itself, you would think the issue would be resolved.
