I don't like Tag Heuer watches

Ha, I'm kind of in the same boat as you. The Carreras, Links, Aquaracers, etc. don't really excite me- there's just a ton of other watches in the market-space they inhabit that I would rather get.

But the F1 Grande Date 44... There's something about it. I just pulled the trigger on the black faced one. Your white model is gorgeous, but overall, the black appealed to me just slightly more... However I'm jealous of your lume! The lume is decent on the black, but not super. I bought it on the bracelet, and immediately swapped in an aftermarket rubber strap- the TAG original rubber doesn't appeal to me, too much writing all over it.

Below is a pic of it on the aftermarket rubber- I have since replaced that with a Maratac Zulu strap... Two new straps in the 48 hours I've owned it, ha ha... more pics in my thread Love for Maratac and TAG... http://forums.watchuseek.com/f2/love...st3606243.html

i'm thinking of buying an f1, and the 44mm grande date is a frontrunner. just cant decide between the white or black dial. would you pls post a picture of the lume just to compare with the white dial one.

Sure, here you go... This is a lume shot in total darkness after exposure under a lamp shade for approximately 20 seconds... Apologies for the bad, blurry photo, the lume is actually much sharper than it appears here, but it still is clearly not as good as the white dial version...






There are a couple of factors responsible for the disparity; first the white dial is basically all lume, with everything black on it appearing in relief, while the black dial only has lumed numbers, markers, and hand tips. Second, the white dial version uses solid fully lumed hands, while the black dial version employs skeletonized hands lumed only at the tips.

Personally, the skeletonized hands appeal to me in terms of an overall look, but obviously they are inferior to a solid hand in terms of the amount of lume you can pack on.

thanks for the quick reply. the pics are very helpful.

there is quite a big difference between the dials. thought that both dials were suppposed to be luminescent as per tag's website description. it also described both black and white dial watches as having skeleton hands.

so hard to choose. good thing both watches look good!

as much as a prefer the white dialed one, I think it would look better with skeleton hands, too. The difference in tone between the lumes, hands and dial, looks pretty strange imo.

I found it hard to choose between the two. In the end i went for the black dial because i think it is more legible in daylight. Where the white dial also has white hands making it less easy to read in the day. In my opinion.
