"The watch has to be surrounded by a history. You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter
The AR300 looks bigger to me.. But they are both 41mm..
Tag Heuer Aquaracer 300M
I think I prefer the 300 when you put them side-by-side. The hour markers and markings on the dial seem to be more crisp and pop nicely.
Current:
Omega "SkyFall" AT8500, G-Shock GW-M5610, Citizen Blue Angels Skyhawk A-T Limited Edition (416 of 1000), Citizen Calibre 2100
Past:
Omega Railmaster 2503.52, Omega PO 2201.50, Tag Heuer Carrera Heritage, Omega Speedmaster Professional (3870.50), Omega Seamaster 300M Chronograph (2225.80), Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean (2901.51.82), Citizen Chrono A-T Limited Edition (799 of 2500), Hamilton King Scuba Auto, Hamilton Khaki Pilot (46mm)
All things being equal, if I have to pick between the two it would a tough choice.
IMO the WAN is more true to the original design of the 2000 series. But hey, progress is good!
:)
Your side by side of the two models high-lights something that bugs me.
On the 300m, the end link curve to match the curve of the end of the lugs whereas on the 500m they are straight cut.
Looks like they missed that detail.
WIS Handbook, Chapter 1, Rules 1 and 2:
1. Tag Heuer never wins a poll. Should a member feel the need to express the desire to own one, he or she may be subject to ridicule and be ostracized.
2. Omega wins all polls. Should Omega not be mentioned as a selectable option, it is highly suggested that you still recommend the polling member purchase an Omega, preferably a Speedmaster with hesalite crystal to add extra character and a certain warmess to the dial.
Thought for the day: if watches and brands were people, how many of you would be racists?
I think it's just the angle of the picture. On my 500m, the endlink curves with the lugs. The the first center link of the bracelet has a small piece that curves with the lugs and then the bracelet attaches to it and allows the bracelet to move.
The only difference I see on the bracelet is the clasp and the way the links "slant" at an angle where they connect to each other on the 300m. The 500 m links are more straight. the first picture shows this on the 6:00 end of the bracelet.
I'm talking about the bracelet end of the end link.
You can see it best here in the first photo.
I recall that both the previous 500m and the 300m here has that matched fitting of end-link and lug. I can also see that the bracelets are actually different too with the 300m having angled links that match that curvature whereas the new 500m is more straight cut.
I know it's picking at details but they did it "properly" before but looks like they sort-of missed it here.
