    screw down crown repair

    Hello,

I'm a newbie here, and first just want to thank everyone for the wealth of information on this forum, been learning a lot!

I have 10 year old Tag Heuer Professional Quartz Blue Dial Sport (WT1213) that I'm no longer able to screw the crown down on. It had been getting more and more difficult, but now threads won't catch when pushing it in. I saw another similar post mentioning to purchase a new tube online, was hoping to see if anyone had any experience with it ...

    - How difficult is it to open/replace the tube?
    - Any suggestions on where to buy the parts?

I went to a local AD (European Jewellers) and they told me i was looking at over $300 to send off to repair. Does anyone have any recommendations on where I could get it repaired for cheaper (without sacrificing quality of course) in the Toronto area?

    Thanks,
    KD

Its either the tube OR the crown or both. You need a diagnosis. Your Link quartz is not a very complicated watch. Find a local watch maker that can remove the crown and inspect the threads of both components with a loupe. If you're lucky, its just the crown. May not be too tough to find. The LINK series crowns are unique to the series, though.

Matching up a tube may be tougher.... If you had the parts, a good watchmaker should charge more than $50 to $75.

    Good luck

    Thanks for the reply!

I'll try find a local repair shop. Been searching online for parts, what's the best way to determine which crown it is? Measure the existing, or is there anywhere to look it up?

Usually I go by diameter and shape. Good luck.
